From the first time Esther set foot in a costume shop at age 6, she had a love of costume design, technologies and clothing history. After she received her MFA in Costume Design from the University of Idaho in 2002, she has worked for a variety of regional theatres in Idaho, Montana, Utah, Arizona and Minnesota.
Since relocating to Doha, Qatar, she has been creating soft sculptures, garments and textiles through knitting and crocheting. She is constantly exploring new techniques as well as traditional methods for creating textiles. She uses hand needles, knitting machines, crochet and latch hooks and anything else she can use to manipulate yarn into fabric. Or fabric into yarn.
